What causes hair loss?

Both men and women can experience hair thinning and loss at almost any age. Several factors can contribute to hair loss including genetics, hormonal imbalances, poor nutrition, infection, or disease.

How can hair be restored?

At Veritas Medical Center, we believe surgery should be a last resort so we offer non-invasive PRP Hair Regeneration treatment to restore your hair.

We combine the use of PRP, or Platelet Rich Plasma, injections with micro-needling to stimulate natural hair growth in the targeted areas. PRP occurs naturally in the human body and promotes the regeneration and repair of tissues in the scalp and hair follicle.

Micro-needling is done by creating small punctures in the skin and boosts the absorption of PRP as well as topical scalp treatments without causing any damage. This option is safe, effective, and has minimal downtime compared to other hair regeneration treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?

Produced in just minutes from a small quantity of your own blood, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) contains a concentrated mixture of the body’s own natural growth factors which have been shown to play a key role in regenerating tissues and stimulating hair growth. PRP has been used for over a decade in orthopedics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, cosmetic surgery, and sports medicine as a non-chemical alternative to reparative surgery.

The PRP hair regeneration treatment takes less than an hour. Our trained physician will produce a sterilized sample of PRP from your own blood and use micro-needling to apply it to your scalp.

Most patients report zero side effects apart from slight redness of the treated area. The redness is temporary and other than that, there will be no other signs the procedure has been performed. You can return to your regular activities and even shampoo the area immediately after treatment.

Because PRP is made from your own blood in a sterile way, it is insulated against the risk of disease transmission. The need for pain medication after PRP treatment is rare because the procedure is performed using local anesthesia.

Every patient responds differently but typically, hair growth may begin to increase within eight weeks. Within six to twelve months, the patient will start to see more dramatic visual improvements in hair coverage and thickness. Depending on the severity and degree of hair loss, more than one treatment may be required.

A medical hair loss evaluation is required before scheduling because not all patients are candidates for PRP treatment. Our staff can provide detailed information on the cost of stand-alone PRP treatments or in conjunction with ancillary products to maximize the regrowth of hair.
